sight means a lot! It just takes time behind the buttplate!

Sharpsman, do you have this particular rear sight mounted on any of your smokers?

Over the years I've drawn this same diagram for hundreds of people that have griped about barrel sights not being worth a hoot and many have come back and allowed that it works quite well! Basically what one has when a full-buckhorn is mounted as a rear barrel sight is an aperture sight that's just open at the top! The human eye has fantastic ability for recall; the same as the body having 'muscle memory' and all that needs to be done in learning to use the full-buckhorn is to spend time behind the rifle and using a target of sufficient size to give the shooter adequate target acquisition for proper sight alignment! It's not rocket science but it does require paying attention to detail!!

I wonder how accurate that would be, especially using the top of the buckhorn? I'd worry about windage being off.

No reason for the windage to be off! The user still has 'points' to use for alignment!
