jon, I am itching to get the gun back. sadly, I will not have time get it ready for the first half of my season. Sad

the angle in this pic.

makes the nose cap look kinda silver. kinda like the silver look. something for future project on my part Cool

still want an 54cal barrel for it. only $85 plus shipping. can be a really cheap shooter. if I can an round ball mold and cast most of my own bullets. Very Happy

Looks like 2 more coats of tru-oil and 2 days of dry time in the sun and a hit with 400grit wet sand paper and a final coat of tru oil in a spray can ought to do it!

Rifle looks really great with a high gloss finish too.

Parts came in. I have a lot of filing to do with that rear sight! Also have to open up the sight V as its just a tiny tiny little opening.

Loading up the Optima right now to see how it does with those 348's!

Maybe, Its lookin so purdy and looks great on my rifle rack that i may just keep it! lol!

Going to work on the lock now as i am finished shooting the Optima. Total of 2 shots at 58 yards, in the same hole was more than enough to tell me that it likes the 348 Powerbelt LOL.

Rear sight installed. What a SOB that was! My fingers hurt from all the filing i had to do. I also opened up the V and its perfect.

Just to rub it in, I think will go out and shoot it first before browning it. Twisted Evil

OOoooooooh does she shoot sweet! Got the sights dead center on the first try!

1" low @ 20yrds, 8" low @ 58 yards with 40gr Pyrodex P, .490 ball and .015 patch.

When you switch to conicals like the 223,245,295,300 Powerbelt, i think you will have to file the front sight down some. The rear sight kicks ass though! Nothing is blurry and focus is easy.

Triggers also work excellent but i must Warn you to BECAREFUL if you use the set trigger. I have it set up as a suicide trigger.

Time to go give the barrel and lock a bath and call it a day.

Just finished up spraying the stock down to tru-oil. going to give it a half hour to dry before taking it out of the shed. Will set it up on the front deck in the sun to cure more. Should have it put back together by tomorrow if everything looks ok.
