I have tried Blackpowder,Pyrodex,Black Mag,Triple 7,American Pioneer Powder,Jim Shokeys Gold,Clearshot,and White Hots.
All of these sub powders had some problems or drawbacks.
Tried Blackhorn 209 on Tues in 3 guns.
Knight Disc Longrange Hunter.
NEF Huntsman.
TC Omega.
In all three guns no swabbing for the entire range exercise.
Loading seemed to get easier after every shot.
The Huntsman never grouped tuesday it grouped three shots touching at 50 yards and almost touching at 75 and 100 yards.
The breech plugs were updated on the Knight and NEF to use the Blackhorn 209 powder.
Omega used standard TC plug.
Sabots used were the TC black with 240 grs. Hollow point Hornadys.
90 grs by volume.
Cleaned 2 guns last night [friday] no rust,shooter choice solvent 1 wet patch followed by 2 dry patches no brushing,
Omega being used this week for hunting may clean in 8 days after season is finished.
Breech plugs removed easily and were very clean.
No crud rings at all.

First off, welcome to the group Good report on BH209. Seems like we all go through trying out a lot of different powders, bullets and primers before we find how good BH209 really is. GOOD LUCK HUNTING

BH209 seems to be the choice of many on this forum. I switched from Pyrodex RS and am happy i did.

New guy here. Just joined today. I just took out my new Encore Pro Hunter. I bought some BH 209 and was using TC 250 gr. Shockwaves. This was the second Encore I have had so I know what they are capable of. I started and finished with 100 grains of BH209. Never tried more or less, no need to. I was VERY impressed. I got it zeroed in at 50 yards then went to 100. I had to do some tweaking but I could see the progression. My last two shots were 1/2 inch apart and a 1/2 inch low on the bulls-eye. I could have shot another just for the group but it was doing everything I could expect. I used to use Blackmag 3 powder but now I can't get that. I like the clean up with the BH209, so far it seems like a keeper.

i bought my first blackhorn last season, i will use nothing else as long as its available. i use it in a traditions yukon 80 grains with a 295 grain powerbelt and federal 209, accuracy was fantastic and set my scope in 7 shots. i fired a total of 10 shots the last 3 was for a grouping, never swabbed in between shots i will never use anything else.(unless blackhorn comes out with pellets) then i'll try them just to see. thanks
