I just have a cheap $99 etrex that lets you mark waypoints, it works fine you can always find your way in and out however it doesn't show any roads or anything, prolly had 8 or 9 years never had any problems with it. They might even be cheaper now

I had an older Garmen that was one step up from the Etrex I don’t rember the module name and I lost it some place in the house. It worked good and I used it for fishing and hunting but sometimes it would cut out under heavy cover finale the screen started to blacking out and the rubber that covers the joy stick cracked and it stopped working. How does yours work under heavy cover ? Also my friend has the Etrex with out wass, must be an erlet modle and it wont pick up satulights unde the trees.

In heavy cover of leaves mine will sometimes lose the satalites too. I will have to dig mine out and see what the model of it is, it doesn't have a joystick everything is buttons.
