PostSubject: .54 CVA Hawken has come in!   March 14th 2009, 6:34 pm

Came in the mail this morning!

I was shooting 80gr pyrodex RS , .15 TC wormhole patch and a .530 round ball at 25 yards. Not impressed at all but the patches are 99.9% to blame.

I love the trigger on this rifle. I guess it to be Maybe 1 1/2lb pull with the set trigger. Crisp and smooth.
Rifle was made in 1996. I am unsure of twist so i will be shooting CVA an email and see what they have to say.

Are your patches burning in this rifle also?

yup. i found a tiny shredded piece and thats it. I will use a .018 pillow ticking patch as a buffer. Or use one of your leather wads and hammer it to a bigger size.

GOT IT!!! I knew it was those darn patches! Today i used a .018 pillow tick patch as a buffer and then loaded my normal .015 wormhole patch and ball. Its ready for 58 yards tomorrow morning.

Not positive but I think the CVA .54 Hawken is 1 twist in 32 inches. My T/C Hawken is 1 in 48.

I'll do some checking and "edit" if I'm wrong.
