The numbers are of no use when you don't know what they mean. Twisted Evil

Is ToF Time of Flight??  I've never seen that in a chart before but good info on how long it takes to hit a moving target. It can turn a lung shot to a gut shot with a long ToF.

1/3rd of a second is a looong time.

Jon

This is showing over 12" of drop for the 250 grain Thor bullet. In another thread you said 8" of drop for the same bullet. That is 50% more drop according to this chart. Which one is correct?

MLN the drop will vary according to the range your gun is zeroed for.

True, but he said he was zeroed at 100 before to.

Mark according to the calculator I use total drop will be 23 " and when zeroed at 100 it will be 8.8"

That is correct, I am pretty darn sure I was zeroed in dead on at 100 yards. I think the chart gives a pretty good and a close idea of where you'll be, but my best advice, ALWAYS practice at the max range of your ability and check the actual drop.

Time of flight seems correct. Its seems like a good chart and even is able to calculate the BC of the larger 300gr bullets.

Spitfire

What program are you using? I have tried a couple calculators and haven't seen those numbers. Also, what do you mean 23" total drop? What atmospheric conditions are you guys using?

Most anything I try is coming up around 12" with: speed (1989), weight (250) and BC (230).

Mark I still have the old version of Point blank and I use Sniper as well. I used 1900 fps and the rest was the same as yours. The atmospheric conditions will be different as I live in Africa.

Spitfire

What did you mean that there was 23" total drop?

What atmospheric conditions were you using. What I have is really close to what Jon posted above. I would like to compare numbers with yours. I used some online calculators and iStrelok and am getting around 12" of drop from 100 to 200 yards with a 100 yard zero.  Are you using  100 yard zero?

Spitfire, FrontierMuzzleloading

I would love to see if your actual results are that of your programs. The only variable that gets me around 8" of drop at 200 yards is speed. If I bump up the speed to 2250 FPS then I'm around 8" of drop. I don't even know if that speed is attainable with a 150 grain charge?

Mark I think what they mean by total drop is that the bullet goes 23" below line of sight , you have to remember that you're shooting up to compensate for the bullet's drop.

And you were right , plugging the numbers into Sniper I also got 11.5" drop to 200 yds with a 100 yd zero. I tried loading the screen for you but can't seem to get it right.

I used 1900 fps ..250 gr..220 BC..1200ft for altitude..110 for Temp and the scope is 1,5" high.

Now we match up, I was wondering if I was missing something.

I'm not sure about that explaition for the 23". I would think that would mean you would be a +12 somewhere in the flight path prior to the 100 yard zero distance and I'm seeing less than 1".

Mark you are really stretching my explanation skills to the limit now Wink

Had there been no drop when you fired the bullet it would impact +- 12 high at 200 yds . Because you have to compensate for said drop your barrel will be pointing at a spot 12" above the target at 200 but because of the drop it is +- 12" low . Hence the 23" total drop.

Hope that will explain total drop.

Jon,

In the new charts the last column is "DRIFT". If there is no wind, what does that number refer to????

Definition please.

"Drift" at 10 MPH makes lots of sense but the column just says "Drift". Since you are in Colorado, I thought it might mean snow drift.  Cool
