PostSubject: NEW SML CONVERSION   December 30th 2013, 7:13 pm

Well here is another one which I have been working on for a few weeks and she is finally finish. This one has a 20" Katadin 45/70 barrel which was converted to smokeless, and I finally put it all together tonight. Will try to take her out on Weds. and see how it does, and will keep you posted.

Sweet! I just bought a 24" barrel to convert but I did consider a 20" Katadin but I was thinking about balance and opted for the longer barrel.
Can't wait to see the report and I may have to get a shorty to do as well.

Not Carlos but if the LOP is say 14" plus the 20" barrel makes for an about 34" gun.

That was what I was thinking. I had a Pro Hunter with a 24" 45-70 barrel converted so I kind of have an idea on the length I think but just wanted to make sure for curiosities sake.

sqezer I believe it can vary from state to state. Since you are in Wisconsin and are allowed to use muzzleloader pistols as long as the barrel is a minimum of 7 inches I believe you would be fine with a set-up like this. Your requirement for a muzzleloader rifle is that it is .40 caliber or larger if the barrel is rifled. The states that I have seen stated restrictions on rifle barrel length for a muzzleloader is usually 18 inches. Hope that helps. (18 inches may be the minimum for a muzzleloader to be considered a rifle everywhere but it seems some states don't even mention anything about length while some do).

Unless the State has regs concerning OA length, there isn't any since muzzleloaders are not regulated by the feds. That's why you can ship one the same as shipping a baseball bat.

Thanks, it does state that during the ML season, it must be Blackpowder or Blackpowder sub, NO SMOKELESS Powder during the ML season. And also must have a Breech Plug, loading from the Muzzle and no Breech Loading as say a 45-70 BP Cartridge.

Okay well barrel length isn't your issue then during muzzleloader season lol. You could use blackpowder subs in it though.
