PostSubject: Accura V2 questions...   January 4th 2014, 12:01 pm

Hey all!
It has been a while since I have been on here. I have recently purchased a CVA Accura V2. I heard so many good reports I decided to make the purchase and now I need some help...

I was borrowing a TC encore for hunting last year and was shooting BH 209 (110 gr.) so I would like to do the same with this gun. I hear you need a new BP with the Accura. Where is the best place to get one from? I work in a machine shop it is a simple mod I can do on the current BP? I assume it just needs a larger flash hole, but I would rather not goof with it if there is a better option out there.
What are the recommended bullets and grains? I hear the CVA may not shoot sabots well is that true? Or maybe that was compared to the TC.  I have never been a fan of Power Belts, but that was out of the TC I was shooting. The TC I was using I shot Barnes 290 T EZ and it shot them great. Any ideas for the Accura? Sabots/No sabots/ribbed/smooth? I understand each gun shoots differently, but wanted what has worked for others.
Any other things I need to know about this muzzy? It was a long battle between the Accura and a TC FX. It is tough to make a decision in a store before shooting a gun...hope I made the right choice. Since I havent shot it I can still take it back if it wasnt the right choice.:-)

Thanks for the help!
Chad

You can order from Carlos, he should have them in stock. Check out the classifieds and go to Ed's gun shop.

CVA's will shoot sabots excellent. With most sabots in a CVA you will fall into the 110 grains of Blackhorn209. The 290 T EZ is exactly what I would try out!

Thanks for the reply!
With the Barnes bullets should I try the TEZ or TMZ? The TMZ's are tighter correct?
What is your experience with Thor bullets?

yes the TEZ should be the one for you. The TMZ is pretty damn tight in a cva.

Love thors in my cva's. I normally have to use the smallest .500" thor but some can use the .501" thor, just have to order the sizing sample and figure out which one your bore needs.

Superb accuracy, anywhere from one hole groups @ 100, to 1 1/4" on a bad day.

Great, I am looking for accuracy and a good hunting bullet. In your muzzies would you say the Thors are more accurate than the Barnes?

in mine, both were equal. The thor though loads much easier and is legal in my state. We cant use sabots for some dumb reason lol.

For a hunting bullet, either will work excellent. I do however recommend you find an accurate plinking bullet as the barnes/thors are to expensive for that.

Great idea.
What bullet works as a plinking bullet for you?
Are you using 100 or 110gr BH for your loads?
What grain of barnes/thor shoots best out of your CVA's. I have had better luck with the 290-300 gr in the past.

barnes, the 290 tez was awesome, the tmz was too but man, you'd bust a gut trying to seat it. For thors, both the 250 and 300's were great but i much prefer the 250 as an excellent all around bullet for my state.

100gr BH209 for thors, 100-110gr BH for the barnes.

What bullet do you use for plinking bullets that shoot similar to the 290 gr Barnes?

For plinking try the Hornady SST's or the Harvester Scorpion PT Gold's. Carlos at Ed's Gun Shop sells them in bulk at a good price.

I use the PT Golds for hunting. They work great on deer and are very accurate in my guns.
