Encore prohunter with a trigger job (thanks to Carlos) with 24" 45/70 barrel converted by Slufoot and a Tony Gettel stock set. Warne Maxima base and and QR rings. Just need to order a collapsible ramrod and decide on a scope.

Thinking about a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10 x 40 w/ duplex reticle. taking suggestions???? Would like to stick with a stainless/ silver scope and have started to realize that that limits the market on scopes.

Picked up a lot of powder, bullets and sabots from Carlos and cant wait to get out and shoot. Unfortunately it will probably be awhile

Probably going to be 3-4 weeks before I can get out to shoot. Still need to get a scope, a good scale and a couple other items but it is wrapping up and hoping to be shooting by the end of March.

I forgot what you told me on a starting load.... was it 10/48 4759 and 4198? Can you tell me what a max load would be for a standard taper barrel and what king of velocity, I can expect.

I have shot 10/48 4759/4198, and up to 10/50 same powder duplex, but always have gone back to the 10/48 since it is the sweet spot. I can't remember the FPS, but will take mine out next weds. and put her thru the crony again. I would stay in that range right there and you will be fine. I'm going to play with the new 40 cal. tomorrow. Twisted Evil
