Are you going to shorten the lower extended part of the butt plate or build up the stock to fit?

I believe there's another plate on the bottom he hasn't installed yet.

it is a hawken stock, I remember looking at the site where he got the stock from. It just needs the toe plate added. Looking at a black walnut stock for my hawken as well. Just dont know if I have what it takes to inlet the lock.

I would never even think seriously about trying to turn a piece of nice wood into a stock. The inletting would be a nightmare for me and not fair to the wood.

Yeah the inletting is best left to people that know how to do it ! Tried a barrel channel once and had to use the wood for a barbeque afterwards to hide the shoddy workmanship  Embarassed

I wouldn't be afraid to do it, but I would take forever to get it done. One little bitty piece removed at a time.

I figure i'd be done when i'm 80.

Can you imagine the PT it takes to get a barrel channel done for a rifle with a full stock and a swamped barrel ?
