I'd ask about trading it in for the nitride or better yet, the stainless version.

Call them, and tell them you got two guns.

Either that, or send it to me.  Very Happy

Glad it all worked out for you.  They do try to work with you, but sometimes the box has to get involved.  I went through two barrels and then a complete gun and still had a problem.  Sorry to hear they are still selling the tan contained version.  It doesn't work.  Not sure of the new coating.

My problem was for them to send me an Apex and I love it.  I even went out and got another barrel in .243 centerfire.  It is one of my favorite guns in my safe!!!

The chipping problem with the tan ones is one of the reasons that CVA did away with that option. So far, there hasn't been any chipping problems that I have heard of with the Nitride. With that said, you can be ultra safe and go with the Stainless, but the Nitride is holding up extremely well. I will say that if CVA's customer service seems to be great with dealing with these issues in a timely manner.
