PostSubject: Optima V2 Breech Plug   June 10th 2014, 6:29 am

I am planning on purchasing an Optima V2. I plan on using loose powder, 777, Pyrodex, Swiss, etc., as I have these powders on hand. At this time I do not plan on using 209. I see that there is a breech plug for 209, and other loose powders available for the Optima V2. Do I need this breech plug to shoot these powders, or will the breech plug supplied with the rifle be O.K. ?

The BP that comes on the gun will do fine. You also don't need hot primers. Use the 209 primers made for muzzleloaders. You'll get less of a crud ring.
