PostSubject: wind and accurate question    June 15th 2014, 12:04 pm

yesterday i went over to friend house and shoot some target, and i wasn't hope that wind wasn't bad, target set at 100 yard and loading at 110 grain and 260 gr gold pt the wind pick up due to stomr was move in and the bullet flies left with the wind so i just wonder does wind cause bullet accuracy ?
it was 20-25 mph wind with about 30 gust, all 6 bullets hit left same spots so decide to give up and hope for windy to calm down and try to do again but wind keep howling

anyone have experience shoot in windy day ??

If you're going to be hunting with that gun and load, it would pay you to pray for wind while practicing so you can judge where the bullet hits. You would have experience on where to aim during similar situations while hunting. That way it wouldn't cause a bad hit on a deer.

Either that or only hunt on calm days. Wink

Yep the wind will blow the bullet off course , and the stronger the wind blows the further it will be off. Good advise Bob gave you now , practice in windy conditions as well.

I shoot on windy, rainy, snowy, hot & cold days......anything that I may encounter in my real hunting situations. A 25mph wind can blow your bullet all over the place.

Tough part about wind is judging it in the field. Laser range finders and bullet drop compensating scopes help with those because they are closer to constants. Wind that is constant is fine and be corrected for but gusts, change of direction, or blocked wind take practice.
Shooting in the wind is something I'm working on and figuring out. Today was mostly calm but occasionally a wind would come across the range instead of in our face. Not a big deal at 100 yards but at 200 it would hit left about 3".
