How corrosive are 209s?
Never got to shoot after I set up. Gave up my bench to a paying customer.

I shot 2 primers  in preparation prior to giving up my bench.

I got to thinking about the corrosiveness of primers ???

I gave the muzzy a complete cleaning just in case.

Thanks
Joe

The light ash residue from even non corrosive primers can hold moisture. So, they are somewhat corrosive if left too long.

That's why we were taught to clean our rifles right after shooting.

No American made 209 primers emit potassium chlorides when fired.  Thats what attracts moisture and causes the rust.  However just like Blackhorn 209 the fine carbon that they lay down in certain climates can either trap moisture or so dry the barrel that in a humid climate their will be no protection from rust gaining a foot hold in the barrel .

I don't know for sure but I'll never test a non-corosive theory with my gun.

What take the chance to save a few minutes?
