Just finished packing about 95% of my gear. In 3 days I will be heading out for a feral hog. My .58 Hawken is as ready as she's going to be. 85 GRAINS OF 2F Goex with a .570 RB along with a .015 patch with mink oil. To get it all started down the barrel I'll be using Remington percussion caps or CCI Mag caps.
Hopefully I'll post some pics of the hog and the damage that .570 does to the body cavity with the hide on and off. So if you don't see me around next week you'll know that I'll be trying to fill my freezer with some pork.

Do they charge you by the hog or by the day? Some places down here charge a certain daily fee and then a small 'trophy' fee for each hog killed .. usually about $50/hog. Some people kill 2 or 3.

Have fun!

At one stage the cane farmers nearly paid us to shoot the hogs in their fields but no more...

Bob,
Lodging, hog and the use of a kabota is all included in the price. The guide, if you want one is included also.
The skinning and meat processing is extra. Skinning is $20.00. If take a critter and have it processed there, the skinning fee is included with processing. $130.00 for processing, double packaging and frozen solid.
The trip will cost for everything including gas, and tip for the guide about $600.00. That's 5 nights at the lodge. Guide, kabota and meat processing.

That's very reasonable except for the processing cost. I had a small hog (90 lbs.) completely made into Italian sausage for $53 after I gutted and skinned it. It was ready 3 days later.

That place is cheap enough to just spend a week even if you don't hunt. Does it include meals? If so, that's almost as cheap as staying at home.

Bob,
We bring our own food ether precooked or frozen. Most of the time we bring a few steaks, brats or burgers for dinner. Lunch we bring some lunch meat and cheeses and for breakfast we have pancakes or eggs with ham or sausages. Plus all the trimmings that goes with each meal........ I DO ALL THE COOKING...............It's a lot of fun for me. We also buy beer and pop in town and my buddy usually brings some kind of after dinner drink or brandy of some kind. (THERE NO DRINKING DURING THE DAY WHEN WE ARE OUT IN THE WOODS UNLESS YOUR DONE FOR THE DAY.)
I feel it's not a bad deal. The lodge sleeps 18 with 2 bathrooms and showers. There is everything you need right in the lodge. We will BBQ every night. If a large group comes in they owner will roast a 100 pound hog and everyone eats like a king.

Ray
