PostSubject: To clean or not to clean?   November 16th 2014, 5:41 pm

I hunted this eve in some rainy weather. I kept my scope and breech plug area covered, the outside of the barrel was wet,but the gun was pointed down so no rain ran down the barrel. My question is would you all go ahead and unload the gun, clean and reload, or not. The gun has been loaded for a week already and still have abut five more days left of hunting. I am shooting a CVA apex, BH209 , barnes 250 TEZ with harvester smooth sabots. Thanks!

TNhunter,
You do what you think is best and I'm sure others may disagree with me but considering the circumstances I would pull the breech plug and I would remove the powder and bullet and clean the rifle and reload. My thoughts are that when that moment of truth arises I want to know that my rifle is going to fire and not hope it will go off. IMHO Exclamation

GOOD LUCK,
Ray............. :rtup

Easy enough to pull the plug and push it through. Im sure its more than safe the way it is, but if its eating at you, push it out and go fresh.

Thanks fellas. I went ahead pulled the BP and made sure everything was clean and dry. Loaded up with fresh powder and sabot. I am sure it would have been fine, but I just don't want to take any chances. Thanks for the replys!!
