PostSubject: Investarms .50 cal Hawken   January 15th 2015, 10:10 am

Bought a Investarm Hawken for 80.00 off a guy and didnt notice until I was cleaning the barrel that it had been ringed about 11 in. from bore:(  well cut barrel off/recrowned it and now have a 16 in. carbine...
Anyone know what barrels will fit this gun, assuming Lymans will but which ones or will all of them..
Also the little set screw that keeps the nipple from backing out is stripped and cant get out, any ideas how to get this tiny thing out.

I even think track of the wolf sells the great plains barrels. May have to cut a new dovetail in the barrel but it might be worthwhile. Do some shopping around for a replacement. I have one, but that sucker is rusty inside form the previous owner.

Looks like you have the same as a lyman plains rifle(not great plains which has 2 wedges). I believe you would need the barrel from the trade rifle to drop in.
Beautiful gun tho, still a great deal.

thanks for the help guys, looked at a few barrels last night at pecatonica and track of the wolf...
Going to see how this little short barrel shoots 1st, if it shoots decent I may just use it as my heavy cover gun where shots are only 30-40 yds max..
