PostSubject: My new MR...............   February 17th 2015, 12:37 pm

Dunno

Jonathan advised me to use 40X Bore Cleaner on my new ACCURA MR because after I cleaned it I seen that the patches were leaving fuzz balls in the barrel. I just thought maybe it was the Nitride barrel and after working on it I have to say it was. I didn't have any 40X but I had a brand new jar of JB Bore Bright.
I followed directions and after 50 strokes the barrel shines and no more fuzz balls left from the patches. The stuff is easy to use and it doesn't take long to do. I'm going to do the rest of my barrels as time goes on.
So if you don't have any 40X but you have a jar of JB, try it. You'll be surprised of the out come.

Hawg,

I have used JB's and it's worked really well!

Took my new Optima and did 100 strokes, after which the barrel looked as good as any "Bergara" and it has shot great ever since.

Ray,
Both of them work great, I had been using the JB for awhile, then saw Jonathon's video, I have used the Remington 40x on the my Last MR, and now on the Optima with the Nitride barrel. It does make a difference.

I didn't do that to mine - I received it from Carlis and it's been fired about 30 times at this point. Is there any benefit in doing this now or is this something that should've been done first?

I don't think it would hurt to do it now. If nothing else your cleaning the hell out of it. Maybe Jonathan or another member that's more familiar with the procedure can give you a better answer.

no its not to late..when I use to go to the open benchrest meets..the pro's use to polish between shoots..I use to enjoy going and watch them guys...

but right after they shoot they would use bore polish like 40x...

so your good to go and use it on your rifle..

once I can get to the range and shoot when snow is gone..after a few outings I will use again...
