PostSubject: THE NEW TOYS   Tue 7 Apr - 19:27

Guys I know I promise this before, but this time a really mean it. This will be my last two. Well one I already had the other is new. The first one is the new .458 cal. SML, and it sports a Bell& Carson Medalist spider web stock, and we also put a brake on it just in case. The other one is the old McGowen 40cal. 400/408 which I had, but I had the barrel cut down to 21" and also put a brake on it. Both guns were bead blasted and they look great. The .458 will be known as THE DESTROYER, I had another name for it, but RAY actually name it for me. Cole Myers was the one who did all the work on both guns, and he did a superb job, no questions. Plus he also made some powder funnels for me so I can load thru the brakes. Will not be able to shoot at least the .458 until Sunday, so I will keep you posted. Here they are.
Carlos

They are both sharp looking. The 458 does that remind you of your younger day's in the service.

As I said in our emails, I hope that 458 doesn't snap you in two, LOL. It will be interesting to see how much that brake will tame that beast. Cole did a great job & those funnels are fantastic. Never having owned a muzzle braked front loader I never even considered the issue of getting the charge down the barrel. I especially like the narrow funnel for carrying in the field.

Looking forward to your post on this one - Greg

Does the .40 have a Remington 700 action? Sharp-looking gun. I just like wood better than plastic.

Bob if i am not mistaken Carlos said to me they are built on the Rem 700 ML action..I had talked to carlos about building one for a bench rifle since they are heavy to lug in the woods...unless you sit in a blind all day...and he told me to get a rem 700ML donor ML rifle which i did...that is the action most used for the builds...The guy who built them for carlos is a whiz on building them..I talked to him...the .458 is a cannon..but so nice...i want one in .451 more options for bullets...and cheaper..lol...
