PostSubject: peep sight for muzzleloader   June 3rd 2015, 8:40 pm

Can anyone recommend a peep sight for my accura V2? I'm still very new to this muzzleloading game and very much enjoying it. Amazing how far a 100 yard target looks through open sights! I'm getting more consistent, but hoping a peep could give me an edge. Thanks.

Williams peep sight is about all you'll find for the CVA. There is the Truglo ghost ring rear sight as well.

Get some of the big 17.25" birchwood casey shoot n see targets. They have a 3" orange bulls eye and the rest is a huge blacked out circle. That black area really helps focus your eye on the bulls eye.

In your experience is a peep sight quite helpful/worth it? I am prepping for an open sight elk hunt in Colorado so looking for added effectiveness.

Yes, over the factory rear sight, its a huge improvement. It just clears up the sights for me so much better than having the bright fiber optics shining in my eyes.

So will I also need to order a new front sight of some sort? Are they difficult to install? Sorry for all the simple questions but I'm still pretty green with all this. A dealer you recommend that may be able to help?

No you should be able to use the factory front sight. Just remove the old sight and install the peep with the correct/supplied screws.

No trouble at all, We were all green behind the ears and one time in this crazy muzzleloading addiction.

try NOT to get a fiber op. peep sight.  the idea is to look through the rear sight ( without seeing it) your eye/brain will center the front sight with out you thinking about it.  so, you only need to focus on the front sight.  having something that draws your attention to the rear sight just goes against the hole concept.  yes peep sights are worth it, i even have them on my blackhawk. Very Happy
