PostSubject: BLOW BY QUESTION   October 23rd 2015, 7:26 am

Well, I finally made it to the range yesterday to sight in my Accura V2. I switched to BH 209, shooting Barnze bullets. Here is a picture of my primers, I was getting a lot of blow by. Will putting one of the rubber O rings in that came with the breech plug stop this?

Yeah you can put the o-rings in there and it should fix it. You could also shim the firing pin bushing with the shim kit.

you can also try the Winchester 209 primers they are longer...you would be better off shiming it than the O ring..as the O ring does not last long and you have to replace them...

Not to disagree with Al, but I love the o-ring set up.  I get zero blow by and love knowing the primer is sealed up, not just smashed into place.  I usually get up to 30 shots out of a single o-ring.  The best primer to use is the Remington STS.   It is the perfect length to go along with the o-ring.  Never had a misfire or hesitation.  The STS is in between the Winchester and CCI strength-wise.

You need a shorter primer like the STS.  Winchesters are too long.

BigDaddy, is your firing pin bushing sticking out from the frame any or is it flush? My brother in laws Optima would have a little trouble cocking the hammer at first when using the o-ring but after trying to cock it once or twice it would cock and be fine. Also, what primers you using currently? CCI?

Okay so you have a short primer. What about the firing pin bushing? If it is sticking out from the frame I would screw it in some.

you just need to close it with a little more force. Once that o ring "breaks in" after a few shots, it will close easier and let the hammer cock with no issue.

Its all good now. I cleaned the gun today after having it at the range. And when I put everything back together, I took it outside, and did like Jon said, shut it hard. Now it works perfectly!!
