PostSubject: Phoenix to the range   February 23rd 2016, 8:39 am

Made it to the range with the Phoenix and wanted to see what speeds I would get with all three bullets, shooting a duplex load of 10/80, 10 of 4759 and 80 of 4350, with the .030 bushing. My 040 bushing had cracked, so have one coming to replace it, Carlos said that this duplex load would work and the speed would be close to the straight load of 97 gr of 4350 that I was shooting, He was right it was the same if not real close to what I was getting with the straight load
22*  wind 5 mph from left to right, 1/4 mile fog.
Bullets were the .416 Barnes
Both bullets, the 300 gr TSX and the 350 gr TSX are flat bottom bullets and have shot right of center in the past, so I used the wind plex setting in the scope to adjust for it, Looks good to me.
Here is a picture of the cracked Bushing in the breech plug

First up was the 300 gr TSX, first shot from a cold clean barrel low left, shot #2 above center, next 3 touching right of center. avg speed not counting the first shot avg 2666.

Next up was the 350 gr TSX, 3 touching below center avg 2602.
The 2 above center was shot with a load of 10/81, wanted to see what it would do, they avg 2615.

Now the TTSX 350 gr, These are Boat tail bullets the 3 below center was shot with 10/80 load avg was 2567. the 2 on center were shot with 10/81, their avg was 2586. Did not adjust scope for any shots

I was happy with the outing today

I would be happy too!  Excellent shooting... Is the .040 bushing that cracked pure tungsten?

yes it was, I guess they had a problem with some of the .040, now have a new one coming that is suppose to be a new one. That one had about 35 shots on it, They say that it will crack early or last for a long time.

I could have not done it better myself, that is some great shooting even for a guy using a sissy sled Very Happy yes there were a few .040 bushing that cracked, but the problem has been solved, so they should be just fine from here on out. The duplex load worked great for you, and you are getting the hang of the wind plex scope. Great shooting.

I saw that first pic was was like, is that an odd shaped flash hole designed to squeeze the flame into a flat/round shape? LOL , I guess not!

Excellent shooting overall.

It was able to spread the flame across the powder instead of in the center. LOL

Two questions:

DAVE: whose bushing was that? (Luke/Fishhawks?)

CARLOS: Who is making the "new" .040's??

Nice shooting!

It was a Fishhawks bushing. Cole and Luke sell the good ones.

Luke is having a sale on the old .040 bushing, to clear out the old ones.
