Leather is out of my price range right now and so I found these. What do you think? I'll dye them brown so they are not so flashy and plus, they'll blend in better while hunting. I like the roomy legs better than the more traditional nut hugger fit.

They seem comfortable, but the white has got to go.   It can be tricky sometimes finding a product that will dye a "natural"-looking color.   I'd try to find a colored one myself and avoid the dye... unless you feel comfortable with the brown you plan to use.

Those are nice pants. They should take butternut dye if you can find the stuff.

I'd worry about the thickness of the pants, whether they're real durable.

Also, $60 is more than I'd pay for a pair of white pants with no cargo pockets, etc. I know you are trying to be authentic but practicality trumps authenticity in my book.

If you're standing next to the right woman, nobody will notice your pants! But if that is not in the plan, then they should work great!

Start off with walnut dye and then just wear the dog out of them....dirt, grease, blood and charcoal will make them as authentic as one would want.....when you get the leather britches follow the same formula............ Very Happy

When I was doing a lot of trekking, canoeing and horse back riding (traveling and camping I wore out many pairs of these pants over the years). They are heavy sail cloth (correct term), Townsend told me they have good documented research on the material, the cut and style for these pants. Like you said "leather is to expensive" and today brain tan is going for big bucks. I sold a pair of brain tan leggings that were in excellent shape and twenty years old for big $$$ (couldn't believe what they went for). Then got a letter from the new owner how happy he was with his purchase.

Buy several pair of these pants in tan , brown or colors that don't stand out when moving around the forest. Keep your clothing in tan, brown, green, gray, etc. Bright colors like some of the yellows, reds and off whites really jump at you, so you know the game see's you too.
