No joy for me. I got all my tags. Bear, elk, and muley buck. I just called to have them send me 3 forms to turn them all in for a refund. My back won't let me hunt anymore.

I lose $45 this year for turning them in to add insult to injury.

Some of the drawing results are in here. I got a hog hunt in August and a Family hunt in October with my granddaughter. I also got a NWR 3-day deer hunt just before Christmas.

My granddaughter got a hog hunt and an archery hunt in October.

The muzzleload and regular gun hunts haven't been posted yet.

Thanks Ray.

Colonel, it's hard to draw a desired permit with no preference points. I had 1 hog point and 2 points for the NWR and Family hunts. I had a preference point for another NWR hunt but struck out. I have zero archery and gun points. I used those last year.

It usually takes 2-3 points for a good area. You can probably get an Arbuckle, Richloam, Green Swamp, or 3 Lakes hunt with the leftover draw.

If you're thinking about hunting bear just go hunt the Ocala NF during the deer seasons. If nothing else, it will be worthwhile to scout for bear sign. If you decide to try for a bear, contact me and I can steer you to a couple of good bear areas.

Thanks, Bob. I use your Florida information all the time.
It is greatly appreciated.

I will learn how to check for turned in permits.
I am looking into Kentucky options, too.

The second-chance draw was today for the leftover permits. I scored a bowhunting one for the middle of November.

They still have leftover permits for national wildlife refuges but they cost $27.50 each and most are leftover for good reasons.

Got another bow permit today. I've got 7 total permits now. If that meant I'd only see 4 legal bucks, I'd be happy.

I am in Kentucky.

This is relevant to this thread because I planned the trip after failing to draw
any permits in Phase I in Florida. The Kentucky trip is a scouting trip with old
Junior High School buddies. We are using an inherited, abandoned farm in the
middle of nowhere. The last resident was there in the 1930s. Old growth trees
now. Dropping Trophy Rocks and apples in a couple spots with trail cameras.

Then... just before I left for Kentucky? I drew two hunting permits in Florida in
Phase II! One muzzleloader and one general gun. Both in places I have never seen! headslap
(I am getting some good advise about these spots. Thank you!)

I think Florida is just messing with me, now. Tease

But, I am having a lot of fun with old friends.

You'll have better luck in Kentucky than any WMA in Florida. More and bigger deer up there.

If I had my choice, I'd hunt Ala., Ga., Miss., Kansas, and Kentucky (plus about 10 other states) before I'd hunt Fla.

I am back home.

You may be right. The signs are very good. The abandoned farm is full of nice oak, maple, some hickory, and
some sycamore in the lower parts with a nice creek for water. The hard rain meant that any tracks were no more
than 12 hours old. We found a lot of them.

A doe and fawn track at the farm. The coin is a nickel.

We walked the property lines on all sides. We met the neighbor farmers.

We also found two turkey feathers. We set up two Trophy Rocks: one with apples
and one with corn and set up cameras. My friends will go back and pull them and
hopefully we will see something.

This is one of the areas we were in with smaller trees. It was nice to see that full Kentucky green again.

Looks like I will be hunting in Florida AND Kentucky this year!
