The video is a little lengthy but well worth your time.  His father's reaction ........priceless.  The father is my nephew and Trey is my great-nephew.  Not a better kid on the planet and deserving of his buck.  I got him the Optima because Jon loved his thumbhole Optima so much and it shot so well.  So really, Frontier Muzzleloading had a hand in this video.

Trey was only half as excited as his dad.

Great video.

That"s Trey's personality. Very humble and quiet. Believe me, he still considers this hunt to be the best day of his life. He loves telling the story.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot to post the specifics!! That's the first thing I would ask.  Barnes saved the day on this hunt as the shot was just a bit back.  In the river hills of southern Indiana, it could have been a very sad day tracking with a lesser bullet. I also owe this forum for persuading me to switch from SST's to Barnes.  Expanding at a lower velocity is what makes Barnes the perfect choice for young hunters.

CVA Optima
Redfield Revolution 3-9x40
250 grain Barnes TEZ
Harvester Smooth Sabot
65 grains Blackhorn 209 (volume measurement)
Winchester 209 primer
stock breech plug

Thanks Tony.  I would have guessed a Barnes(250?) based on your Avatar. Laughing

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
p.s. For our Guest viewers:

Traditionally powder charges are recognized and given by VOLUME, except for many of us here on this forum which weigh their powder charge.   Tony used 65 grains of BH209 by VOLUME to reduce recoil.  I will simply note that 65 grains can easily be mistaken as grains by WEIGHT...at least on this forum.  Good post Tony. Wink
