I have an update but it's not really anything unusual. I'm taking a new drug for people with bleeding disorders and no one has much experience with it. I'm not a hemophiliac but I'm close plus another disorder thrown in the soup.

They're trying to wean me off that drug ($5k/infusion) while substituting rat poison (warfarin). I also switched over into atrial fibrillation twice so they're fooling with that.

I may get out of here by the 10th or 11th if the warfarin numbers come up. I'm going stir crazy in here and really feel sorry for Ron having to go to a rehab facility on top of his hospital stay.

No driving, guns, bows, lifting, etc.  for 6weeks +. That will really suck.

Sorry for the complaining. Go kill some deer and get me hepped up. :laughing5

Bob,
I hope that time flies by like it did for me when I was recovering. It helps that I slept so much.
It is common to have some good days and also some bad ones. It's all part of the experience.
Like you, I was told that I had to limit exertion and could not push, pull or lift anything that weighs more than a gallon of milk. Of course that meant no rifles.
Now, I can lift items almost as if I never had any health issues - almost. So, we can heal and come back.
I wish you the best on getting the pharmaceuticals worked out to your advantage.
Ron

Bob.......again sorry you're going through all this...I spent 7 weeks on crutches starting Feb 10th and then with my arm in a sling from May 15th on.....and so for seven weeks wasn't allowed ot drive. Both ankle fusion and shoulder replacement are doing pretty good. Go to both surgeons this week for final appointment with the ankle guy and another follow up with shoulder surgeon. My right shoulder is almost as bad as my left one was but I am praying for a miracle that I don't have to get another replacement........at least this year. Sadly with $6,000 deductible, which is paid up for this year...I may be foolish to not get the work done before the first of the year.

We got all this amazing medicine but between Obama Care and just plain getting old......sometimes it just s**ks! Dunno

Hang in there......I once had to give up hunting for an extended period of time but came back stronger than before!

Update: I was home for a couple of days but had serious breathing problems and went back in the hospital on the 13th. My bleeding problem plus the coumadin and heparin allowed my left lung to fill up with blood. They drained over a quart of old blood off my lung and I had to start the healing process all over again. The numbers are OK today so they may discharge me.

Bob, you are too ornery to let this get to you.
Clint Eastwood your ass up and beat this thing.
We are in your corner.

I did come home yesterday and got a decent night's sleep. 26 days in the hospital gets real old.

Breathing better today but it will be a while before I can walk a mile. I just hope the bleeding doesn't start again.

Bleeding sucks...

So does wondering if you will make your next mile.

YOU will make the next mile.

It won't come easy. But, it will come.

You just need to want it, you SOB. Breathe the air and be
grateful. God knows I need that reminder from time to time.

I know you will get your ass off that bed if you want it.
Don't wreck my track record of predictions. I have not failed, yet.

I'm not in bed but have trouble talking while walking. Not enough air for both. It's getting better though. I walked 200 yds today.
I have to scrub the incision areas with special disinfectants and then paint them with betadine. A shower is an energy depleter currently although it gets easier every day.

Then shut up and walk. "It's getting better..."
Of course it is, wimp.
scratch

Quit worrying about what you can't do. Nobody cares.

Who needs to hear you chatter that much anyway?
I can't juggle and run at the same time. Nobody busts
my chops over it.

I scratch, too. Use those scrubs and paints. Most folks use
them to look better. You look terrible-  so this is just needed
maintenance and upkeep. Like a retired battleship.
king

We have need of your crotchety, off color, mis-informed advise
and knowledge. You are not relieved, soldier.

And... get better you SOB.

26 days!! OK, I will stop complainin'!

If you are anything like me, the first, tough period will go by really fast. I look back on that early healing period and can hardly believe it really happened.

Here's hoping you will get well quickly!
Ron

Thanks Ron.

Judging by the Colonel's physique (or lack thereof) he will be experiencing the joys of chest splitting pretty soon. Wink
Then we will hear some real whimpering.

Ooooo.... So cruel... and probably so true...

I will whimper a bit now just to practice.
Whimper! Whimper! (Clears throat) WHIMPER! ... No that is all wrong.

Get well soon you ape.

Hi Bob, I agree with the Colonel, don't be worrying about what you can't do.  Follow your doctor's advice and  take your time at building up your strength.  Hunting season is important but not more important than your health.  I wish for your speedy recovery friend!
