Jackpot tonight is 478 million, 330 million is the cash payout. After taxes about 200 million.

What would I do with 200 million tax free dollars? I have a ticket, but have little hope of a win.

What would you do with it?

Idea
I have a few people I would lend a hand to...

I have a few nieces and nephews to spoil...

My Dad has always wanted a '55 Thunderbird ragtop...

I would buy a little hunting land with a nice barn...

A new car for me and the missus.... (It is time, anyway.)

I'd like to get a live aboard boat. Being on the ocean is fun and we could
float around fishing and visiting...

And, I would buy a larger gun safe and add a handful of toys...

I would go ahead and retire with the rest of it. That first spending spree would
make me uncomfortable! I'd sit on the rest like a hen!

Fun to think about, eh?

Yes, it is fun to think about it. I have a long list that also includes helping others. Even those I don't even know now if they're in need.

Kind of hard in Colorado. They have a right to publicize it. This amount of money would be all over the news.

I'd buy a big piece of hunting property in a state with more deer than this one.
I'd have a really pretty .45 Flintlock long rifle.
A Winchester 71 Deluxe, maybe 3.
I'd open a smallish sporting goods store after I took a year off and did nothing.
I'd go west and kill a big bull elk.
I'd go to Canada and kill a big whitetail buck.

That would be nice.

I know i'd buy a nice cabin in the mountains to stay in from spring to fall, and have another place for winter.

I would take good care of my family and then buy the biggest piece of property with a fishing pond and plenty of critters to hunt. I guess thats what all of us would probably do. One more thing, I would buy an original in mint condition Hawken rifle in 58 or 54.

There's no original Hawkens in mint condition Ray. They're all pretty beat up and in museums. They didn't baby their guns in those days. They used them for what they were made to do. Hunt and fight Indians.

Yes, they could show up now and then, but I doubt it would be mint.

I'd love to have one too, but showing some wear would give it character. You'd always wonder what made the marks on it. That's part of the fun. Very Happy

Well, one ticket had the winning number last night. It looks like someone will have this decision to make for real.

I didn't even get one number right, but i've never been lucky.

I'd probably continue to live just as do and research individual people with terrible hardships and help them out. I would give to no organized charities because they waste over 35% of donations on fancy trappings for the directors and advertising.

I'd take 1 1/2 million to buy about 300 acres of good hunting land.

Whew.........that was close! cheers ....almost had to decide between a $17 mil ranch in Clark Colorado or a $7mil ranch in Harrison, ID.......sad part is no matter how simply you'd want o live your life after a big lotto win.....unless you give it all away, life will still get complicated. Heck even giving it all away, you'd have to decide who gets what and how much and whether giving them a windfall would destroy their lives as it does to so many.

I know it sounds a bit nuts, but I would consider negotiating an end to my retirement and go back to the university. I could fund my own research projects and support a top flight team of graduate students.
The only part of my faculty position I despised was having to spend enormous amounts of time writing proposals to get research funded. Back in the late 80s and early 90s, I could write 5 proposals and get 2 or 3 funded. In the last 15-20 years, I would write 12 to 15 proposals to get one or 2 funded. That would mean 1/2 year spent documenting and writing proposals that crashed and burned. Just wasted time.
Funding my own research would also mean that I could have an off-campus lab and tell the university admin bean counters to take their paperwork and put it in physiologically unlikely places. That means I wouldn't spend 1/3 of my work week doing accounting and other paperwork.
Of course a few, very nice front stuffers would figure in there as well as some hunting properties.
Ron

Thanks, but it's not just my back. I have advanced Osteoporosis. It affects all bones. I crack 4-5 ribs a year along with a few broken backs. Hard to take when I used to be a powerlifter when I was younger.

I'm sure as a Christian ( I know. Hard to believe) i'd start an organization to help the needy. I'd also try to start an organization for lottery winners to contribute to it. Hopefully, it would go on after i'm gone.

An worthy and honorable vision! t up

Hate to hear you got the physical issues that you have............I'm pretty confident that God gives us the bodies we need to finish the race and accomplish as much as He has chosen for us to do before we step into His presence.....even in our infirmities. God was gracious to allow me to be crushed at 29...........35 years later my eye is still set on the finish line...and on the goal.

Hang in there Pete

I'm trying, but sometimes I think God doesn't want me to hunt anymore. I tried that a couple of times, but it drove me crazy. I'm so addicted to hunting.
