You still have a long wait. Don't you have any earlier hunts?

The elk hunt if off for me, but if I can get everything I need to shoot the muzzleloder I just bought I can get a muzzy bear tag for Sept 10th.

Then I still have a muley buck tag at the end of Oct. Bear hunt is iffy, but deer hunt is for sure.

Pete,
If I was still hunting with a bow, our bow season starts 1 Oct. to mid Jan '17. It closes a few days during gun season.
Gun season for deer starts the Fri, Sat and Sunday the weekend before Thanksgiving and then again it opens on 1 Dec thru 4 Dec and then again the following weekend. 6 days in Jan for Late season hunt. Total of 16 days only with a firearm which consists of shotgun slugs, 45 cal muzzle loader and larger and a hand gun w/4" barrel and I think it's 357 and larger.
Bow tags are good thru out the state but fire arm tags are only good for the counties you request. When tags are left over usually they go OTC around the 1st of Oct. you can buy as many as you want until they run out for that county.

You get to hunt the rut for deer. We don't get that option.

This year we lucked out with the rut. Maybe I'll luck out with my .58 also.

Well, it's big enough to get the job done. Just put that big ball where it belongs and fill the freezer.

Im going for a week with my good friend Sept 10th thru the 19th. I have a cow elk and buck deer tag in muzzy season here. Both of us will be packin 58's and some bird shot out of the 44 for some of those tasty blue grouse in the mountains. I cant wait for the trip as not only is going to be fun just to go its going to be a nice break from WORK. Al

I saw the surgeon yesterday. He cleared me for a hunt with my granddaughter on Oct. 22nd. I can't wait.
He didn't know how much recoil a crossbow generates but he said that I might be able to bowhunt with one by Sept. 25th but I should be careful.

Good news.

Kill those deer, Ray and post lots of pictures.

I feel no recoil in a crossbow. It feels like the bow pulls away from me on firing. Which it should if you think about it. The string is slamming forward. There might be some recoil of the string backwards after going forward, but I don't feel it.
