Got an old 20Ga. Pump put a 4X12X40 Vortex Scope on it, going to shoot rifled slugs, shoots good groups.

Ok going to take it to the Range and Sight it in. Would you sight it for 50 or 100 yards?

Have killed hundreds of Deer with 20Ga. and Slugs so I know this Gun will do the Job.

Well, you've killed 100's of deer with 20 ga slugs already.  How far away were they?

I'd sight in at 75, but I like to be different than most.

Dave Henderson an expert and author on slug gun shooting states 50 yds for most shooters due to wind drift .  I zero at 50 and then experiment at 100 yds to confirm the zero and trajectory .

5 - 130 yards.

The range I go to if there is other shooters I can either shoot 50 or 100 yards, no more or less.

Rifled slug barrels are very accurate at 100 yds. plus. Smooth barrels aren't as accurate  at long range. I'd use 75 yds. as my maximum.

I have an IC barrel for my Wingmaster that shoots one ounce slugs into a paper plate at 100 yards. However, that's the only one I have that is accurate at 100.

My rifled barrel 20 gauge model 670 Express shotgun is sighted at 75 yards.  Most of my shots have been hogs over feeders at  75 yards or less.

My H&R 20 gauge USH is zero'd at 100 with the 3" Federal Trophy Coppers. It's a good combo and I have put 3 shots on the box they come in from my tree stand at 100. I would start at 50 and dial it in, then try 100 and see what it tells you. If it's good beside vertical make the adjustment.
