Bought A New Rifle Empty

Got a good price on a Ruger No. 1 chambered for 9.3x62mm.  Installed a Leupold VX-3 3.5X10x40 scope.

Laser bore sighted the rifle at home then tweaked it at 125 yards at my range.   Then fired a five shot group at 125 yards that measured just less than 1.5".

Later i whomped a big boar hog with a 9.3mm 286 grain bullet.  Boar went down, jumped up and ran off into the thick underbrush; where he was found the next evening.  Boar went about 20 yards after being hit.

i don't go looking for big wounded hogs in the dark.

That's a nice cartridge. When I was hunting in Namibia for mountain zebra, they gave me a Mauser chambered for that round. They said it would be more adequate for zebras than my 7x57.
They said, "Sit by the waterhole until midnight (legal over there) and the herd usually comes in to drink about 11:00 pm if there's no leopards around." That "no leopards around" really got my attention. I was very relieved when they picked me up at midnight. I never once looked for zebras but I sure was looking out for leopards.
The father of the two sons who ran the ranch was killed and partially eaten by a leopard about a mile from there. They had him buried in the front yard with a big marker.

Reminds me of the old savage design. Pretty darn neat rifles.

#1's are pretty neat single shots! I had a friend who was the Colorado State Big Bore Champion who owned two #1's ...one in .458 Mag and the other in 45-70. He told me once he had loaded up some 45-70's that were clocked at 3,000' per second........ affraid

Nothing like the thought being eaten to sharpen the imagination!
Fun!

I like the look of the rifle. Looks serious.
