This lock/frizzen is the factory lock on my Traditions Mountain Rifle with 1/2x5/8" French Amber Flints.

I haven't really noticed that French amber flints make more sparks. The reason I use them is they last about 3x longer than the black English flints.

I am loving those pics you are doing.

I just changed my flint to my new French Amber flints.
I did notice a big improvement in number of sparks and
in consistant striking. It only failed to strike once in the last

Now, this may just be because I was working with a
wore out flint. But, it is hard to ignore the change in
my flint lock performance. I shot better with it than I
ever have at the last meet and actually placed 3rd.
That is a first for me with a flintlock. So, yeah. Big
improvement for me with French Amber. I am likely
to keep using them.
