PostSubject: Howdy-do from the Ozarks   December 3rd 2016, 2:11 pm

Ozark HillBilly, 54 years young. Re-infected with Muzzleloaders again. As of right now, I have a Lyman Plains Hawkin in .50, also 2 Traditions inline break barrels, also in .50.

After a 2 week search I've picked up a can of Blackhorn for the inlines. I now have 3 weeks to work up a load for the late season here in Missouri.

For sentimental reasons I haven't modern gun hunt for deer since my Pop passed in 2007. This will be the first time in almost 10 years I'll be out after them and I just had to go with the front stuffer. Got some XTP's, SST's and some Harvesters to see which ones this Pursuit likes. I also have a Buckstalker in Stainless, but it needs an iron sight transplant, I can't stand the plastic sights and I hunt almost exclusively in the woods and I don't like a scope in there.

I've had the Plains Rifle for quite a few years. It knows what it's doing in the woods and I do love shooting it, but the old eyes are not what they used to be and trying to see those sights at daybreak is getting a bit tough, thank the gods for fiber optics!  Very Happy

Anyway, good to be looking forward to a deer season. I'm sure Dad will be with me and I'll hear his advice, and his jibes if I happen to miss.

Welcome aboard, understand about the father situation, hunt in his memory and you will be successful, harvest or not. Looking forward to hearing about what type of load your gun likes.

Thanks Jerry. Will do. If this weather would cooperate I could get to the range and get this done.

Welcome aboard...

Love the 're-infected with muzzleloaders again.' So true.

I wonder how many other names we can come up with.
Black Powder Ague? Smooth Bore Catalepsy? Gun Gout?
Front Stuffer Dropsy? Striped Wood Fever. Wallet Lumbago?
Muzzle Mania? Nipple Frenzy? Flint Scurvy? Ram-rod Rickets?
