My brother got me the Archangel stock for my M44 Mosin Nagant. Its now complete!

Rock Solid mount, Burris Z rings " I think ", KonusPro 6-24x44mm scope, Timney Trigger, Unknown brand of bi-pod due to the age.

So far everything looks and feels great. Got to scrub the bore down tonight as its had a few hundred since its last bath.

I had a Mosin I paid $45.00 bucks for.

Clean bore, sharp rifling.

Bore size varies widely. Bullets often keyhole badly.

The ones made in Finland are excellent.

Threw bullets every where but in the target.

Had a hard time selling it with 880 rounds of ammo.

Finally got $60 bucks for the lot and was very happy to get shed of it.

IF I were going mil surp again I'd go with Mitchell's Mauser.

Here is a nice one.

http://www.gunbroker.com/item/679730352

In the box for $495.00.

Collector grade for $495.00

https://www.gunsamerica.com/Search/Category/435/Guns/Rifles/Mitchells-Mausers-Rifles.htm

You get what you pay for.

Yeah, one thing we learned, NEVER judge a rifles accuracy by the military grade ammo you are using. We had some really good stuff, then we got into a bad batch that we still have not run out of.

With hand loads, my brothers 1941 russian m9130 with 180gr PPU bullet tips and H4895, is an awesome shooter that's keeping up with todays rifles in the accuracy department.

100 yards. Center shot is a 150gr PPU with H4895

For $60, you must have sold that thing 20-30 years ago. The stocks now days sell for that lol!

i've owned numerous Mosin Nagant rifles.  Every rifle that had a good bore was accurate.

Yeah, the bores are an issue. Always try to look at them in person. Worn crowns are one thing to look out for. The group above, that mosin has a counter bored muzzle.

It was likely 25 + years ago.

The only firearms I have now that shoot military ammo are a Ruger SR 5.56 and

a Remington R 25. The R-25 is 7.62 X 51 ( .308 ) and can take 20 round magazines

but I don't see a particular use to hi cap mags in this particular firearm.

Yet.

I have 10, 20, 30 round mags for the Ruger S.R. 5.56.

I HAD a dandy Double Star AR in 5.56 with s.s. 18.5 " barrel that was a
tack driver.

Traveling to Fla. we stopped for the night in a motel run by Arabs as 95% are these days.

Went to breakfast, came back and found the Double Star and 2 expensive cameras

GONE.

Called the local sheriff and made a report and the deputy said "good luck. That rifle will
show up at a terrorist camp somewhere in the world."

The motel Arabs who spoke good English when we checked in now spoke NO English!

Mad

We were out to breakfast only 40 minutes or so.

Bastages.

Buying a Mosin is a crap shoot (no pun intended).

Many, many, years ago before the gun control act of '68

dad bought a Mosin from a hardware store real cheap and
40 rounds of mil ammo.

Bullets key holed awful and accuracy was nil even though
the bore showed strong rifling.
Quality control is almost non existent with the junkers.

If you have a good one then cherish it and play the lottery
as you luck was very good indeed.
