Ha! Gotcha beat. Our deer season opens in 6 days on August 1.  Runs till the end of the year.  Too bad my wife and I only need one deer a year!  Our kids grew up not knowing what beef tasted like. Smile

I had neighbors that raised cattle for 70 plus years, their families never tasted beef.

When mentioned this I was told "you would be eating dollars, that's our pay check".

Same here, growing up on a ranch.  Sure ate a lot of venison, rabbits, javalina, domestic pig, chickens, cabrito, lamb, elk and bear. But beef was for selling!

52 days for me.

I went hog hunting this morning and didn't see a hog. It was 82 deg. at daybreak but not sweltering (yet). I saw 2 deer, several dove, 30+ wood ducks, and a pair of blackbellied tree ducks.

I also was able to scout out an island and found 4 ladder stands that "nice" air-boaters had put up for me (or anyone who gets there first.) One of them was next to a large buck's trail. The tracks were the largest I've ever seen in my 46 years of hunting in Florida.

The view was great for either AM or PM.

Maybe I'll see a hog next time.

Bow, usually the 4th Sat. in Sept. ML, usually the 1st Sat of Nov. I haven't checked . Still busy with things I thought I would have been finished with months ago. AND working on mowing equipment. The only thing I have working right now is a '63 Ford tractor and bushhog. Not good for yard work.
Still have two guns to build and another to re-barrel. Haven't shot my bows since last season. Probably gonna miss bow season this year.

September 9th for us!

Some jack wagon clear cut all the trees in our camping area, so now we have to go a little further this year. Not a whole lot, but still pisses me off by what they did.

Our new elk area we are going to try out this year. I took some time on my map software and found this area has a valley ( multiple valleys) that intersect into the area where my dad shot his elk back in 2014. Lots of sign, just need the animals to move into the right place at the right time as usual. A couple nice deep canyons in the area too to look for animals shading up during the day.

I find these raw pics of hunting areas to be very intriguing.

WE are hunters. The pics we get in glossy hunting mags are like the air brushed pics in girly mags.
While they are enjoyable, if you are making real life choices based on these? (HAHAHAHA)

Sorry...

Sorry guys the dates won't line up to hunt both muzzleloading seasons in Colorado and Utah one after another or together.

Neat idea to have access to one base camp on two state broaders in mountains of the (Book Cliffs).

Problem is Utah starts it's season on Sept 27th - Oct 5th while Colorado's season is Sept. 9th -17th. Both seasons are by a points drawing only, no over the counter KC.  In Utah you really need to watch where your at with the Native American Tribal Lands covering a large part of the Book Cliffs.

Had a couple of guys that worked at the Cabelas Lehi store get caught in there and between the fines, loss of animal heads and then losing their jobs it was really stupid on their part over being horn hunters.
