bought an old miroku .45 ultra hi muzzle loading pistol . should be here early next week as it is only about 5 hours away . also orderd some of lanes tubes for it and my other M/Ls .

it looks like a kit gun that needs a bit of finish work . i will be browning the barrel and will probably oil finish the stock . seller dose not think it has been fired , and he has not shot it . from a bit of google research it seems these have very tight bores . most shoot .433 patched balls instead of .440 . i may try some of the lighter power belts if they will fit .

thats a good looking pistol! With a refinish job it will look awesome. Just take your time sanding and working with the stock, the longer you take the more care you put into it and thats what is going to make it a beauty.

thank you . i will be taking my time . i hope to find an affordable LH holster for it . i will be brining it along while deer hunting . here in MI you can hunt deer with a black powder pistol of 44 cal or larger . it will be as a backup or for critters or if i get real good with it maybe a deer under 25 yards .

do you know of a adjustable rear sight that would fit something like this ?

The rear sight for a traditions trapper might fit it. I think they use the stanard 3/8" dovetail.

Hello from Germany!

Nice pistol you ordered there. .45 for deer is a good cal. at close ranges. I know that because here in Germany .45 is the most used cal. I recommend 60 grs of bp/Pyrodex RS and a PRB.

A good sight for hunting would be the AimRight. It fits all kinds of ML. Ask at Log Cabin Shop, Lodi/Ohio.

Regards

Kit gun without a doubt!

Looks like they tried using their teeth to inlet the lock!

I replied to your PM about this pistol

yup lol . i replied here are pics of the lock . i thought they used the stock as a dog toy before "finishing" the kit .... hence the tooth marks . Rolling Eyes it dose not need to look amazing , heck any thing is better than now .

Just a thought but don't get to carried away with the finishing. It might take away from the character if you know what I mean.

I was once told by a gunsmith to stay away from pistol kits.
