Its supposed to be nice and cold tomorrow, in the 40s! I decided to try out a "new" projectile in my traditions mountain rifle, so now shes loaded up with 90gr pyrodex rs and a 300gr powerbelt aerolite.

I will swab between shots to get the best accurate test possible.

I think it will be a good solid shooting load out of that MR.

Also tested a new spin loading jag i bought a month or so ago.

good luck with the groups, also the spinjag is something I have recently purchased, I like them, they are made very sturdy and with precision.

Well that didn't go well at all! Hang fire on 4 of the 5 shots! I thought it was from swabbing, so my last 3 shots were without swabbing and it still hang fired like a super slow flintlock. I removed the treso nipple and installed a knight redhot. Plan on giving that a try hopefully tomorrow evening. What a bummer! 5 wasted slugs down range.

On a good note, That $6 traditions spin jag deal actually felt really nice pushing the bullet down the bore. I will have to try them with something that fits real snug and see if it helps felt loading pressure. One thing that bothers me.... Plastic... But for the price, it was worth a try.

Thank you Jon, very interesting. Keep us informed on how this works. I'm interested in trying this idea in a .50 caliber smoothbore. Thanks again kid, your alright no matter what Marty says. Surprised
