PostSubject: I Like Beer   February 14th 2018, 9:39 am

Our Aussie friend pointed out that many of our most advertised American beers are not very satisfying for the taste buds.
While my over all consumption has plummeted (I am both in training and recovering from surgery), I do enjoy a hoppy froth from time to time.

So, name your top three American commercial brews. Tell use why they are good. Tell us where they are made.

Then give us your top three non- US commercial brews. Tell use why they are good. Tell us where they are made.

We may make fun of your selections- especially if you pick Budweiser. Laughing Laughing Laughing  (I do like their horse commercials)
To help you avoid embarrassment, you may not name any of the following:

Coors
South Paw
Miller
Pabst
Schlitz
Yuengling
Rolling Rock
Busch

If you name any of these as 'best?' You are clearly not qualified to participate. Wink

Have at it.

PS> If you brew your own, you get coolness points.

I am not a beer connoisseur. On a hot day I'll drink almost any cold beer .. especially if someone else is buying.

I like a good dark beer that doesn't taste like an Irishman shit in your mouth so Guinness is out.  :tdown2
Also out is any beer made in Costa Rica except Bavarian Negro.

I like Presidente from the Dominican Republic and Victoria from Mexico.

When i used to live up north, every spring the breweries would have a bock beer which was dark and supposed to act like a spring tonic. I liked that pretty good.

Free beer is always good. Unless it tastes like coffee or has a lot of fruit. Or, is Clamato which isn't really beer. BLAH

Nice.

corona, its a mexican beer and i really miss it. ive tried some of that corn beer but its crap. soooo i stick to good old dry red table wine. over 4 myears ago and going from 180 to 135 pounds with the westnile. when i finally got out of bed and our bedroom is in our basemant, the only way i could make it up the stairs was if i had a glass of red wine first. then i could make the stairs. today i did one arm tricep extensions with 80 pound in each hand for 5 reps. that red wine is still working. i have a glass before i work out. arnold said he trained on wiskey, i train on red wine, dont over do it but it is in me.

Arnold's whiskey doesn't look like it helped him much.

There is a local beer here from east Denver an apricot ale I like other than that its Coors light. Corona to me is skunk beer and if I need to drink a mexican beer its Pacifico. But I dont drink much beer. Im no mountain man either but I like red wine and whiskey. On the rocks no mixer for me with the whiskey.

"I like Beer"...

Me too.   Beer and an occasional wine.

I’ll reach for Belgium’s DUVEL or our Maine’s ALLAGASH Curieux when I want something special.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
p.s.  Tough deciding here in the Northeast simply because there are so many breweries.  Vermont has over 40 alone.

I enjoy Heineken Beer.  I also enjoy Sam Adams and an occasional Moose Drool brown ale.  If someone is offering me a beer and they ask what kind, my reply is "wet".  Very Happy

About the only commercial beer I drink is Negra Modelo.  After that it's smaller outfits known for their porters or IPA's.  Never been one for lite beers (my fishing pard calls them canned pisswater).

Probably reflects my preference for a good bourbon or very dry red wine.  Only drink a couple or three beers a week, but like a small bourbon and branch before dinner or a glass of a really hearty red with dinner.

I worked for 20 years for an alcoholic (claimed he wasn't because he only drank beer), so with an alcy or two in my family tree, I probably drink less in a week than some guys drink in a day.

BrownBear, having never been in Alaska I wouldn't expect you to have the selection of beers compared to the lower 48.    Do you have any Brewery up your way comparable to the Mexican Lager you prefer Question

1 gal. whiskey, one handful red Spanish peppers, 1 lb. plug or black twist tobacco, 10 gal. river water (in flood), 1 lb. black sugar or molasses, 2 rattlesnake heads per barrel.
