If you BUY the beer...
If you BRING the beer...
If you SHARE the beer...

You may drink any dang thing you like.

That is how I tried my first Pabst in decades this November. Someone brought it. Suspect
(I think it was Grumpy)

Uh... Well, free beer is good beer. Unless... it has blueberries in it. And, Clam juice. Wink

Hamm's beer used to be a major sponsor of the Cubs and White Sox home games on TV with Jack Brickhouse as the announcer.
They had a cartoon bear etc. dancing around and singing:

From the land of sky-blue waters
From the land of pines, lofty balsams,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm's, the beer refreshing.

Got a very fine award-winning micro brewer right here.  Didn't mention his stuff cuzz no one ever heard of it or would get near it.  Most popular are his Sarah Pale Ale and Spruce Tip Brew, but I lean to his porter.  Got a pig (2.5 gallons) of it in the refer right now.

Shiner Bock. Not as good as Sam Adams, but in the vicinity. Corona tastes like repackaged Falstaff at three times the price.

Like Al, I am not a drinker of much beer. On a hot day, I will drink most anything available as long as it is cold, even beer. I find American beers bitter by the 3rd sip.
There are some fruity beers and a ginger beer I had in England that were good, but I don't go out of my way to find it.
Fact is, most alcoholic beverages taste like medicine to me.The exception was some Scotch a friend brought back from Scotland. That was the first time I ever remarked that any booze was "good." (It was very good!)
If you visit my house and put a 6 pack of beer in my frig, you will find them all there a year later.

Man I'd love a beer!  Had a liver transplant 4+ years ago and booze is strictly against the rules now.  But, man I'd love to have a beer!  Pabts, Lone Star, bath tub, Corona, or any other brew.  I'd just love to have a beer.

(Chuckle) Sounds like a different thread.

My TASTES run toward Brown Bear's. My ACTIONS run closer to RonC's lately. I have some Sweet Water IPA's sitting in the garage. They have not been touched since I had visitors two months ago. They liked them- even though I had accidentally bought a variety pack on sale and some were made with pineapple. Yuck!

Next one I have, I'll hoist in honor of Old Smoke. Some boys are coming for some Florida fishing soon. I will likely have one then.

Hamm's... You know, I have never tried one. They worth anything?

I'll hoist a couple to Old Smoke too.  Very Happy

I was too young to drink when I lived up north. The commercial song and pictures were good but I think Hamm's beer was so-so ... maybe like Falstaff, Stroh's or Genesee.

Falstaff, Stroh's or Genesee.

Never tried Hamms? Do they still make them?

I had forgotten all those others. Strohs! Wow. I remember Dad's friends drinking that. Pull tabs!
Those ring pull tabs are something I had not thought of in a while. They all had them.

Strohs and Falstaff I'd add to the scrap pile list. I never tried Genesee. But, worth it to be reminded
about pull tabs.

I'm about ready to swear of alcohol altogether. Got an inlaw house guest at the moment who likes it a little too much. Get a little under his belt and he thinks he's smarter than everyone else and loudly takes over any conversation.  My wife calls alcohol his Stoopid Syrup.

Bad time for me to even think about having a beer or anything else.  Only 28 hours till they leave, and the clock is very much ticking. But not fast enough!

Local custom brews are turning people into beer snobs just like the know-it-all wine snobs that taste a "bit of fruit and acid" and whatever crap enters their heads.

If you like it, drink it. It's as simple as that.

Pato, I don't think I'm a snob just because I drink my beer with my "little pinky finger" in the air.  Laughing

I drank some Strohs Signature, Hamms, OLympia, Heidelburg, and good ole Rainier in my younger days. Drank some Pabst, Old Style to. But Im not fond of any of those anymore. I can barley choke down a Bud Light. Al

I like Oly. I liked Iroquois when I was in upstate NY but I hear that it is no more.

There are many regional beers I've never tried: Hamm's, Heileman's Old Style, Drewry's, Meister Brau, Heidelburg, Jax, Utica Club, Rheingold, Lone Star, Bohemian, etc.

I'd better get busy.

Snobs? Oenophiles (wine connoisseurs) are snobs?
How can they be snobs when they can describe a wine: "Deep purple color. There’s the faintest soupçon of asparagus and just a flutter of Edam cheese. Aromas of rich dark currants, nectarine skins, gushing blackberry, but lots of fragrant tobacco, rich soil, white flowers, smashed minerals and metal. Medium-bodied and saucy but racy acidity stabilizes the wine nicely with the robust tannins. Deep red currants and ripe cherries, laden with mocha, loamy soil, charred herbs, pencil shavings, roasted hazelnut. A torrid macadamia nut aftertaste and South American sushi undertones are entangled." Very Happy

I don't  have much of a taste for alcohol. However, there are some wines I can tolerate. What I have discovered about wines aging is:
“Wine improves with age. The older I get, the better I like it.”
