On 6 June, 1944 Allied troops stormed the French beaches.   US beaches were Omaha and Utah.   British beaches were Juno, Sword and Gold.

i knew numerous troops who were at Omaha Beach:   An uncle by marriage was in the second wave at Omaha Beach.   He said it was impossible avoid stepping on the bodies of troops from the first wave.  Another uncle by marriage was an assault boat driver at Omaha Beach.

My good friend, George Berry, serving in the Canadian Army, was in the first wave at Juno Beach.   A first cousin in the 101st Airborne division died at St. Mere Eglis on D-Day

This evening i will tilt a snifter of Carleton Towers to all troops who participated in D-Day.  They were the greatest generation.
