Buck, should a pistol like that have the "GRRW" stamped on the barrel?

If it was sold as a completely assembled gun it would have been stamped GRRW, if a kit gun there would be no markings other than caliber. Watch for the fakes that do not have the correct stampings. I'll get some pictures of the fakes we have seen being advertised on here in a little while.

Thanks Buck. I asked for some pictures of the GRRW stamp on the barrel.

Fakes

one example, they never used period.

See this page by friend Phil Meek and collector of GRRW guns - barrel stampings.

http://grrw.org/green-river-rifle-works-barrel-markings/

Phil wrote about my good friends GRRW Hawken, had read about them, it was the first one I  handled in 1973, within a few months I had one, then became one of three dealers in Northern Colorado for GRRW.

Thanks Buck. This pistol has no markings on the barrel. Apparently "built as the prototype "Factors Pistol" for Green River Forge  by GRRW"?

I asked Doc White and Carl Walker how many "prototype" firearms did you guys build at GRRW.

The reply was "darn few, lots of fakes claiming such .... they'll ride on the GRRW name as long as anyone remembers who we were".
