PostSubject: Ball starter tool breaks in two   September 12th 2018, 2:08 pm

I have another post about my shooting day yesterday, that is in the shooting section.
While shooting, my ball starter broke and nearly went into my hand. Close call.

Here is the starter:

You need to get one with a brass rod. That was way too close to being a bad injury.

†I sell ball starters. Very Happy† Mine aren't likely to break, they're 3/8" Oak Dowel with a White Tail Antler handle. They're good for .45 cal. up through .58 cal. Just tryin' to help, PLUS I don't want to see you get hurt or waste more money on a junker. Right now they're on sale too, 10% off. Just mentioning it. Smile Oh... the shipping is $5.00. Email me we'll discuss it. Thanks.
God bless:
Stoney

I never thought that such a short rod would break like that. Yes, a long, wood ramrod might, and often do fracture. But this just was 4 or 5" long.
I just drilled out the 3/8" rod remnants and will replace it with a different wood or a synthetic rod.
If I had a spare brass rod, then I would definitely use that.

Ron stop by the local hobby shop or even Lowes, they always have brass rod in different lengths get the diameter you need and replace the broken wood piece. You'll find use for the rest of the rod.

Thanks, Buck. If they don't have brass rods in the size I need, I'll go to Ace.

How have you been ?†† Question

I was going to surprise you as we were planning to come over for the Mile High Nationals at Bandimere's. Then I started having some health issues and had to cancel that idea, called Sporty Bandimere and he let us cancel our tickets (very nice).†

I worked as a SFI Certified Tech Official for Bandimere's for over 40 years, always a fun place to be around the drag cars and the family. Maybe next year and we can meet at your hang out - Coors.† Very Happy

If you come around these parts, always consider yourself welcome. That goes for all of my Frontier Muzzleloader friends.
