We see them every once in a while around trash cans set out at night for morning pickup, mostly seen in the evening or at night.

I've carried a lion tag for years. When I have a gun I never see one, when I see one I never have a gun. :-(

Go West over to Grand Junction area or North around and above Fort Collins Jon.

It's hard to get a permit anymore, but it can be done.

I was hunting near Loveland CO back in the mid 80's, sitting on a game trail and felt like I wasn't alone. This was in muzzleloading season, I'm using a GRRW Leman Indian Trade Rifle in flint. I start looking around and catch a movement. Now I'm watching this spot (in the rocks to my left above me about 30 yards away). After a long period (probably 5 min.) I get a second look at what's behind the rock, backend view of a mountain lion as he re-positions himself to watch me. Now I'm really watching him, he starts that tail wagging thing like our house cats do before jumping on something. He moves around and I have a clear side shot of him and I took my time and touched the flinter off. The cat spun around once then disappeared, I reloaded and moved around looking for him. Down among the rocks he was laying, my hunting buddy throws a few rocks at him, he never moved, he was dead. That experience scared the crap out of both of us, then Kermit says "Shit Buck we don't have a permit", I just shook my head.
We took the claws, teeth and the tail leaving the rest for the coyotes. Stayed away from that area for weeks in case the DOW found the cat and had someone watching the area. Scary stuff....
