My brother bought this tristar 12ga bullpop shotgun some time ago and they recommend using magnum shells to break it in. Well it broke it in alright! Yesterday my brother in law was shooting it and on his last shot, the locking lug broke and exploded the magazine and rear section of the shot shell into his right forearm and some plastic/powder burns into his chest. Hes ok, a shit load of bruising, one tiny piece of metal the hospital left in and some cuts from the magazine.

Hes going to see a lawyer and show the pictures of the bolt of the shotgun.

The shotguns are made in turkey.

Found the culprit and what caused the damage to both the gun and shooter. Not sure if this happened on the last shot or the shot before, but their pot metal isn't worth a damn.

When at Cabela's we handled the brand, they are cheap to just look at, even their doubles are not anything you would want to depend on.  If 5 were purchased 2 would come back and the other 3 probably hadn't been shot.

You always buy the best you can afford, even if it means skipping a few going on's on Friday night.

i just now read this thread. Hope your brother in law is recovering well.

Think it's called the "Tactical Shotgun". Thing looks like junk.

They sell Tristar at the LGS. The single shots and doubles feel so bad and rough you couldn't give me one to saw off and make it a snake charmer. Glad he is okay!

Wow! That is an extensive injury!

I had a Spanish made Lanber over and under 12 gauge. After just a few shots, the barrels separated from each other at the rib. I was an easy fix, but one that should never have been required.
