Hawkins are very easy to clean - Kentucky look difficult since the barrel can't be removed - looked on utube but could find nothing -

Some guys will remove the pins and take the barrel off like a Hawken. Others will plug the vent with a toothpick and pour water down the barrel.

As Pete said.. I prefer to pull the pins and barrel and make sure I get all the fouling out of the bore and around the lock.

I believe the thinking is that if the pins are removed all the time they'll get loose. I had a Pedersoli that used screws instead of pins and that made it easy.

Remove the lock, put the rifle in a gun vise with the touch hole facing down and the barrel very slightly lower at the front. Any water will come out the muzzle without getting on the stock, and any water that comes out the touch hole will just drip straight down. Been doing it that way for years.
