New .45cal Sidelock Empty
PostSubject: New .45cal Sidelock   New .45cal Sidelock EmptyMarch 2nd 2012, 8:28 pm

My sidelock I bought off Carlos came in today!

Great handling rifle actually.

Trigger pull was horrible but after some filing and some sand paper work, got her perfect at 1lb. I know, to light, but that's the way I want them on my rifles.

35" long 13/16th .45cal barrel, The twist has me thrown off. Im not going to complain about it because I have to shoot conicals in order to be legal " 170gr minimum law".

After measuring the twist with a tight fitting patch, it came out at 1:24 !!

Very unusual I thought.

Stamped PR, FIE, Italy

She will get an entire make over once I finish up some other projects and order some supplies.

Nice looking rifle with all that wood. Sounds like the twist is not typical for such a long barrel.

So far it was doing pretty good at 30 yards off hand! I still have a great deal of trigger work to do but am unable to find my favorite file to do the job Evil or Very Mad Just going to have to take a day off and clean the shop and look through everything.

Have a big supply of ammo for it already, just need powder and some wind free days.

At Carlos's prices. That's almost $700. Compared to $250 for Goex BP.

Then you have to compare the price of round balls/patches compared to the bullets you probably shot, and you see the appeal of traditional guns. Wink
