I am looking for a scope that is of decent quality but yet is $200 or less for my muzzle loader.

Any suggestions?

Does it really matter if it is a 40mm or a 50mm scope?

Can I mount a 40mm scope on a 50mm dura mount setup?

Vortex Crossfire 2. Great eye relief, good glass, great customer service, lifetime warranty. I really like this scope, just bought one for the Encore. $135

Count me in on the 3-9x40 Bushnell Trophy XLT DOA 250.

Most hunter don't "need" 50mm objectives & 40mm scopes are generally lighter in weight.

Yes you can use a 40mm scope in a high mount made for 50mm. It might look a little goofy but won't hurt a thing

If you can deal with a fixed scope. The Weaver K4 4x38 really does have nice glass for the money. $145.

Been using one for over a year now on one of my muzzys and it has worked flawlessly in all weather conditions. Below zero in Iowa to the humidity and rain in Florida. So far it has taken the recoil of about 100 460 grain conicals pushed by 80 to 90 grains of 777.
