I picked up a new Redfield Revenge 3-9X42 yesterday. I got it at Dunham's Sports. On sale for 189.00 & I had a coupon, so outthe door for $171 & some change. It is the Hunter Accuranger model. I'm very interested to see how well the range finder works. I just have to decide which Apex barrel to put it on, the 243 or the 7-08. What to do.........

It seems quite clear, bright, & sharp. I debated between this one & the 4-12, but they didn't have the range finder reticle in the 4-12 so I went with the 3-9.

I just picked up another Revenge. I had another coupon.....this time for 20% off so I went back & picked up the 4-12X42 for $178 & change. I figured that was a really nice scope for my Apex 243. I put the other Revenge on the 7-08 barrel. I love the clarity of these scopes & even at 12X the edge to edge sharpness is impressive.

Between the 4-12x42 Revenge and 4-12x40 Revolution, which do you all feel is the better scope? I picked up a Savage .223 recently and was looking to put a scope in this magnification range on it for another coyote gun.I may make the 1-1/2 hour drive down to Cabelas or Dunhams to check these out this weekend along with some others.

I had them both in my hands at the same time & I couldn't tell any difference. I believe the less expensive Revenge has an etched reticle which I prefer, but as far as image, clarity, shading, brightness....no difference. The other thing I like about the Revenge is the quick focus eyepiece. It's your choice, but at this point I'm buying the Revenge over the Revolution. You can't beat either one for the money.

Made a little change today. After I mounted the 4-12 Revenge on my 243 I liked it so much more that the 3-9 that I had bought, I decided to take the 3-9 back & get another 4-12 for my 7-08 barrel. The only problem.....they were out of them, but they had it in the Revolution, so I popped for another 40 bucks & bought a Revolution. Just got done mounting it & I am much happier now Smile

Greg,
Sounds like a kid in a candy store! You are having too much fun!
I have 4 revolutions and one revenge all with a duplex reticle. I too like the quick focus eyepiece bette than the old style that the revolution uses. If they would make a fast focus revolution I would be the kid in the candy store!

I am & I love that feeling! I agree with you on the fast focus. I can't figure out why they don't. I can't speak for the durability of the Revenge as I haven't been out to shoot with them yet. The Revolution has proven itself to be very durable for me. I'm expecting the Revenge to be just as tough.
