Is that car the equivalent of a Pontiac in the USA?

Yes Mark , it's a Pontiac Parisienne .

It's the Canadian sister to your Pontiac Bonneville.

I recognized those tail lights! I didn't know you got Canadian cars in South Africa? Then again I don't know why you couldn't. LOL

We have real Yank tanks here as well , for some reason all the Canadian cars are right hand drive where as the American cars are all left hand drive .

Most of us will go for the RHD cars as gov't passed a law that makes it very difficult or impossible to get a road worthy certificate for a LHD car.

I believe that former British colonies (EXCEPT the USA & Canada) are the only places in the world where you drive on the wrong side of the road. Even the Virgin Islands which were once owned by Britain has left-side driving. A few years ago Belize (formerly British Honduras) changed to right-side driving as a requirement to getting part of the Pan-American Highway going through there.

You're right Pato .
In my opinion it is stupid that there must be more than one standard ...but that is how the pom's are .
Always thinking they are re-inventing the wheel !
