 Scored A Winchester Model 88 Rifle

PostSubject: Scored A Winchester Model 88 Rifle   June 17th 2013, 5:46 pm

It's caliber .308 Winchester.  The gun was very cruddy and the bore was full of lint, etc.  It cleaned up very well and the bores in perfect condition.  The stock is cracked through the wrist, the front sight cover is missing, a butt plate screw is missing and the front stock screw is the wrong one.    Will also order a new stock from Boyds.  Gun cost me $200.   

Will put a good scope on the gun and give it a try.

Great find I have one in 243 wish it was a 284. great shooters you might be able to find the parts u need on the web

Nice looking gun. The 308 is a great round, the 284 Win is one of my very favorites though.

And just about every gun shop or mom n pop country store that carries ammo generally has a box of rounds chambered for it (atleast until the recent ammo glut).

Same here in za , you literally fall over .308 ammo in gun shops !

The Win Model 88 in 308 is a beauty.  I was after a friend of mine to sell his to me for years.  He moved to Florida, and I never got the gun. Sad
