PostSubject: opinions please   November 9th 2013, 8:42 am

Hey guys I'm in the market for a new cheap muzzy, been goin back and forth between wolf and optima and blued or stainless. Planing to use blackhorn 209 so my main question is will there be a big difference stainless or blued barrel? I personally like the looks of blue better however if the stainless has a big advantage I'm not opposed. I didnt care for the first optima i had because of where the button was to open it i was always opening it accidentally, i see the new ones have a different lever. Just sold my optima pistol because honestly i cant it the broadside of a barn unless i am standing inside of it! Lol not sure if i will use a scope or not on new rifle so thats why i been thinkin about the wolf seems as though its a good iron sight gun from what I've read. Thanks for your thoughts.......

I'm pretty old school, and like blued guns better. All it takes is some oil to keep it looking nice.

Some will say SS is easier to clean. Maybe, but BP and subs are pretty easy to clean in blued barrels.

SS Optima, its a lot easier to clean, keeps rust away far better and holds a better resale value if you ever want to sell and buy a different model.

SS Optima for me. I think that it is more resistant to rust ( but SS is NOT rust proof) & it's easier to clean & keep the inside of the barrel rust free. Again.....MHO. Also, if scoping go with the Thumbhole stock, regular stock if using iron sights.

Still undecided on the scope thing, really was hopein the blue barrels would clean as easy as stainless. For some reason i think they look better.......

BH209 cleans easy in any gun.  I am not a blue or ss guy, I like dura-coat.

Yeah that sounds like a really good deal, especially with the scope included! If it felt good in your hands and shouldered good for you, go for it, they are the best bang for you buck. They also will shoot right there with the most expensive model CVA has, which kind of makes you scratch your head lol.

Are you in a hurry? I picked up two Optima V1s for $124 each at WM after the season was over. They had a Wolf for the same price. It may be worth the wait if your In no hurry.

Just an FYI......If you buy a gun with a scope already mounted on it, take the scope off, take off the bases. put some blue threadlocker on the base screws & re-install. It will eliminate the possibility of the scope loosening up after a few shots.

That is a good deal. It comes with the scope, and gun case. I bought that package, and it worked great.

Good thing about CVA's is, it doesn't matter which one you get. They all shoot good.
